This months orchid in the picture: Zygopetalum maculatum 'Trozy Blue'
We now have a very nice compact Zygopetalum maculatum meristem called 'Trozy Blue'. This meristem has a wonderful deep blue lip and a strong scent, especially on a sunny day in the morning. This species grows in wet and mossy places at altitudes of 1100 to 2250 meter. It can be found in the rainforests of Bolivia, Brazil and Peru. Zygopetalum maculatum has several synonyms including Z. mackayi, Z. intermedium and Z. bolivianum. The meristem 'Trozy Blue' is easy to cultivate and requires once a week water and few times of misting. Be aware that plants don't like water in the hart of a new shoot. They like temperatures between 18° and 22°C. Once the flowers fade you move the plant to a slightly cooler place.
