This months orchid in the picture: Cochlioda noezliana

A lovely new orchid in our collection is now available, Cochlioda noezliana. A small to medium sized epiphyte with a short inflorescence that carries 2,5 to 4,5 cm large flowers in bright to dark orange colors. This species is named after Jean Noezl, a Swiss orchid collector from the 19th century. Cochlioda’s are closely related to the Odontoglossum genus. Cochlioda noezliana has a large influence in red and orange Odontoglossum hybridisation. The Cochlioda genus contains 6 different species and can be found in the higher Andes mountains of Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru.
