Orchid of the Month: Odontoglossum Horsmannii
A rare natural hybrid from Odontoglossum luteopurpurem and Odontoglossum nobile is now available. Also known as Oncidium x horsmannii and Oncidium x adrianae. This cross was described by Frederich Reichenbach in 1880. The first blooming plants had 5,5 to 6,5 cm large flowers in yellow/white colors overlaid with maroon red patches on the petals, sepals and lip. This orchid flowers in late winter and early spring. Prefers deep shade and a cool, humid environment. Temperatures are ideal between 12° and 20°C. If higher humidity has to rise up to 90% and more. This natural cross is limited in stock. On a sunny day this orchid in bloom spreads a lovely sweet honey scent.
