Orchid in the picture: Dendrobium harveyanum

Belonging to the Densifora section this species is related to D. brymerianum, D. chrysotoxum and D. thyrsiflorum. It's rare in the wild but can be found in the subtropical mountains of Southwest China, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It's honey scented flowers are trully eyecatchers. The petals are heavy fringed and hold the dew drops in the dawn. The reflection of sunlight from the drops draws more attention. An ingenious trick to fool pollenators. It loves warm and humid conditions through spring and summer. In the fall water should reduced to mist. During winter place the plant cooler with a minimum of 12°C. Its stunning flowers appear in spring or summer.
